Wen't fishing in a small boat at Harts Lake today for the first time and caught approx. 25-30 crappie. Took 6 fish home for the frying pan, and released the others. Other crappie fisherman said on several of there past fishing trips, they had caught over 100 crappie in one day and took all of them home. This really upsets me. What are they trying to do? Fish the lake out so there are no fish to catch on there next fishing trip. I wish more people understood the importance of catch-and-release. Anyways, fished from 1:30 pm - 6:00 pm. Very windy all day, and by 6:00 pm was blown off the lake by the wind, otherwise, would of stayed longer. All crappie were small (hand size), although fun to catch. Tried some bass fishing for a short while with no luck. Talked with another bass fisherman and he said he caught an 8 pounder 2 days ago and said there were alot of big bass in the lake. My next trip I will spend the day targeting those big bass. Overall, excellent lake for now (until those other crappie fisherman ruin the fishing for me, and the others that know how to catch-and-release).
