Took the Brother In Law from SD and his cousin from Cali out for a little spiny ray mission today, with high hopes and low expectations. Bad thunderstorms recently made the likelihood of a consistent catch fairly low. Grey skies and threats of rain from the weatherman didn't help.
Made our way out trolling in a few different spots. Picked up a 14" crappie right off the bat! A few minutes later we bumped into an 11" perch. After trying another spot or two we returned to the previous honey hole for a squawfish and smallmouth hitfest. Boated two smallies and 5 squallies in 45 minutes, losing another smallmouth at the boat (amateur night).
Photo is of B-I-L holding the big fish of the day, 17" smallie.
Saw many father's day boatloads today (dads and sons, not many females) hitting the docks and shorelines, and happened to see a boat pick up a smallie as we were setting up our first troll.
