Took my grandson, my daughter-in-law and my son out for some fun for free fishing day in Idaho. Note, they now charge an $8 launch fee if your boat is out of state - this one caught me off guard because they did not have this a couple of years ago.

They also want you to rinse your boat before you launch it. I know why they want it, but in all truth, the pressure at the wash is not sufficient to do anything. Still, stay on the law's good graces and do it.

We found a lot of bluegill in the pads. In fact, my grandson proved to be too young to want to catch them, but he sure enjoyed watching the rest of us do it. I droped a couple in the live well and that was just too much fun for him to pass up. Rumor has it that after 3 hours of fishing he did not make it 10 minutes in the car before he fell asleep.

In short, I don't know about the rest of the fish, but this was a good place to introduce a kid to fishing.

Totally COOL report Anglinarcher, I can relate to the fish in the livewell senerio. Works ALMOST every time.
It's great to hear of the youngsters getting introduced to fishing. Keep up the great work

How old is your grandson? I took mine to a lake the first time the other day. No fish. He is 2.

I was out there that same day, came out to fish for crappie, but ended up catching lots of pan size bluegill instead cause we couldn't find the crappie.

My grandson is just over 2 years old. Every time his dad gets his rods out he wants to hold them and pretend to cast, so we took a chance. He enjoyed tossing the extra bobbers we had into the water more then anything else, but he did think those fish were pretty neat. We took my son's wife out with us also, and I warned both of them that I was totally prepared to create a new fishing partner out of my grandson, so if my son wanted to go he had better get with the game!
