After hearing that the weeds were not too bad, I decided to try Bay Lake for largemouth bass. It had been 7 years since I fished this lake -- I had given up on it because it was so weedy. Anyway, the weeds are still there but far less than in the past. Fishing solo, I launched the old Bass Tracker onto the lake with warm weather and sunny skies. There was one other boat on the lake but I have no idea what they were fishing for -- I never got close to them. There was also a nice fellow named "Don" fishing for trout from the shoreline. He said he visits washingtonlakes.com but was not a member. I encouraged him to join up. I fished most of the shoreline but the weeds were still bad enough to catch on almost all lures. They were not so bad, however, that I couldn't run my motors almost anywhere around the lake. I hooked only one bass -- about 12 inces on my brand new "Vampire" Rapala size 11. It was the first fish for this lure. I was sure that with a name like Vampire it should be a real fish catcher. I did see one nice bass about 4 pounds crusing around in about 2 feet of water but he didn't like Vampires. It was a beautiful day to be on the water. I didn't want to send a photo of a 12 incher so I attached one that was taken a few years ago at Bay Lake. On that day, I hooked a 4-10 and a 3-8 on back to back cast while fishing with my son.

Thanks for the kind words guys -- I fished mostly the west side Daniel. Thats where I caught those two fish in the photo. I had spotted them spawning on an off shore log a few days before. As, I approached the area, I made long casts to the area before they could see me. Caught the male first and on next cast caught the female. Both were released at the site.

It seams tough with all the fry bass. Almost hit bay to day but went to wild cat . Nice report Bob, with the weed count down I may hit it soon.
