Hit Long Lake on Saturday for the first time with a buddy. Man was it windy. There was a bass tournament going on that day. We launched our little 14 ft flatbottom with a Trolling motor and headed for the south end with all the Lilly pads first thing at 6am. No luck. So we trolled for a bit and caught one small trout. then we started pitching Docks with spinners...no luck..just a few small hits...We were on the east shore of the lake. Then we moved over to the west side bank and had no luck until 11:30. Then we started throwing green Senkos frm Gary Yammamoto. My buddy threw out his first soft plastics cast, at some under the surface weeds between two docks, and WHAMMY! A 5lb Largemouth came up from the weeds. He thought he was snagged at first until the line went left and right. It was a good fight....I was sure that little light action pole if his was gonna snap! It was a 5ft trout pole....
Skunked the rest of the day....I got nothin but jealous....
Great job Steve!!!! Nice catch....We are both managers at Cabelas....always on the hunt for some lunkers...
