Well, with Christmas shopping, other family commitments as well as up and down weather this is the first time this year that I have not been on the water for an entire week. I will be hitting the lake later in the week.
Unless we get more fronts coming through we should continue to have great lower basin fishing for numbers of 2 to 6 pound lake trout. Our Chinook plant using a remote incubator site to hatch triploided chinook appears to be going well. Rufus continues to be the big story in the region with triploid rainbow and kokanee dominating the catch.
This is a good time to think about highlights of the year past and anticipating the fishing year to come. Grimes, our regional June 1st opener is always worth the effort to plan a trip to. It is a single barbless hook fishery and can produce some great Lahontan Cutthroat fishing. Plan your trip, otherwise you'll get into the dog days of summer wondering how you missed the fun.
