Hit the lake at 5:30 opening day. It was pretty active; I fished from my Float Tube along with a friend. We even set a couple of Crawfish pots with no luck but the fishing and weather were both superb. You couldn’t have asked for a nicer day, there were a fair amount of people trolling and catching average size fish, I chose to bottom fish using red, white & blue power bait. Each cast would barley reach the bottom before I’d have a bite. I lost one, set a little one loose and caught 4 in the 12-13 inch range and one lunker of 16 ½ inches all in the space of 1 ½ hours. It was a great day to take a day off work.
