Decided to hit up Coulon Park today after work (5-530pm) in search of the Perch bite from shore. But, I had to try for the smallies! LOL... I found a couple under docks, but missed the strikes. I used a green jig w/Trixie crawdad trailer. So not a lot of luck w/bass bite.
Furthermore, I set up my drop shot rig/nightcrawler for the perch around the docks and started getting consistent bites @ about 630-7pm until about 9pm when I left. I was over by the boat launch. These perch are tricky though, when you feel the bite, ya gotta set the hook on them or your bait is gone, lol. Think I'm going to try night fishing here in near future. Much calmer water in evening anyhow..
Anyhow, I caught: 1 lil rock bass (did not know these existed in Lk. WA), 1 sunfish & about 10-15 perch, but only the ones in pictures are worthy of my deep fryer, ha-ha!
Well, the shore bite is picking up slowly but surely! I was talking to another guy who caught a couple of smallies and perch as well. We both were tight lineing and reeling in very slow for the bites/fish. A guy on his bass boat said the bite was slow, but he managed a few. Fun day overall!
