Pulled into a very nice and clean Campground with motorhome and attached boat onTuesday, after a three hour drive from Asotin. We picked one of the nicely shaded camp spot and left the boat attached, a hard wind with gusts was making pretty big whitecaps on the lake, so we chose not to launch until Wed. morning. When we got up Wed. morning the wind had subsided to some extent, only small whitecaps, Just right for shallow lake fishing. Launched the boat and went uplake for about one half mile, and put the lines in, trolled for about twenty minutes without a hit, then "bam" Barb's rod went down and she was into a very acrobatic rainbow that put up a great battle, these Bow's hit so hard that we run a very loose drag, just enough to keep the line from stripping out from trolling pressure, otherwise the small treble hooks strip right out of their mouth. We could hardly get both lines back in and take a sip of coffee without getting a hookup. After finding the fish we traversed from one side of the lake to the other, it was about equal all the way across the lake. We pulled the lines in after about three hours, and headed for camp to get a little lunch and reminisce about the beautiful big Rainbows, and the wonderful fishing. For the afternoon fishing, we decided to change locations and try for even bigger Bow's, it was a good decision, we were hooking into three and four pounders that just made the reel scream when they hit. I'm telling you it was a really great day of fishing, we are so fortunate to live in this great country, and the beautiful Northwest, to be able to have extra special days like this is a blessing, we all need to take a moment and remember that. We kept four of the fish for smoking and released the rest to catch again when they are even bigger.
