I got up to the lake around 11:30 a.m. and started fishing close to the launch. It was a great day to be on the water. 70º, light variable wind and partly cloudy. The surface water temperature was 57º and the water was very clear. The level of the lake was a bit low for this time of the year. It was down about 5 verticle feet from the high water mark. The channel between the back bay and the main part of the lake was only 7 feet deep.
At about 12:00 noon, a midge hatch was coming off and the rises got very active and lasted for about 2 hours. I had an BiVisible on all afternoon. A Renegade was also working.
Most of the fish were averaging between 10-13" and very healthy. I released about 20 fish and kept four for my 80 year old mother-in-law. Those will be a nice treat for her.
