My son and I wanted to take the boat out for a shakedown cruise to Samish. We also figured we'd do some bass fishing while we were at it. We struck out for largemouth but landed a few smallmouth. On the east side of the lake,I had a 3-4 pounder right at the boat but he got off while I was trying to lip him. He hit a rocket shad spinnerbait. Later as the sun was going down we worked a few points with topwater Spooks and Pop-Rs and picked up a few nice smallies. The water was 59-61 degrees and there wasn't very many people on the lake. W'll be back.
