Bottom Fishing From Shore
Smallmouth Bass

Went to Clyde Beach Park this evening. Today I had the best fishing day since last fall. I got lots of bites and landed five. Funny thing is most of them are not what I used to see at this place, except a little perch, which is a regular here. Three of them are squawfish, one is a bass, range from 13" to 15". I let the bass go and brought the squawfish home. It's not that I want to eat them (I heard they are not good for eating), but I thought maybe my son's dog would. :-)

wow.. i fish at clyde regurly at clyde,, i just recently stopped going there because i seen that they cutt down the weed bed along the dock which is basically home for bass. im suprised to hear they came back to find shelter. by the way what kind of bait did you use?

Just worms. Acutally a couple of days ago we got a even bigger squawfish, 23". For a dock angler, this is really something!

Ususally I wouldn't even mention Clyde Beach Park because all I've seen (other people fishing) at this place are perch, little ones, less than 6". At least that's what it's like last summer and the summer before. Before sun down, cast out 20' to 30', lots and lots of perch. I saw people fish there regularly for perch, but I'm not interested. But somehow, this year, things have changed. I posted a report a few weeks back about how we caught a few trout here, the largest being 13". For about a week, we caught only trout and nothing else. That lasted for about a week, then trout are gone. Then, in the past 10 days, all we got here are squawfish, from 12" to 23". So far we've got only one perch. I don't know. Any other place? Enati (I'm not sure about the spelling) under I-90 bridge is also popular, but too popular in my opinion.
