My 7 year old son and I fished the south shore near the dam. We caught one near the clearcut at a depth of 150 feet. It was 7 or 8 lbs. He realed for about 5 minutes and handed the rod to me. The fish tired him out. He was really excited though.
I didn't see a whole lot of fish on the bottom. The Mac's may be up the lake but we didn't have time to look. When I find them stacked up in an area the fishing gets really good but I couldn't find too many - a single here and there was all.
It tasted really good barbequed last night.

Nice job on the fish! Did you happen launch off the gravel on the South end of the lake? I've wanted to hit this lake prior to Labor day for several years now but the campgrounds with the launches aren't open before then. I just don't trust being able to get my rig back out of the water.

Wish Poosh is open with a paved launch. You should have no problem.

Thanks for the info. In the past they usually didn't have it opened until the Memorial Day (what I meant in my first comment) weekend.
