After leaving Terrell earlier, I stopped by Samish for a bite of lunch and quick nap to decided were I would fish the evening... I decided to swing by Clear lake for an algae check and if it was still too funky I would go hit McMurray.... Well what do you know, there was actually more than four inches of visibility!! I launched, and motored into the wind, which was now gusting to 20 out of the south, and headed for the south side of the lake. I fished a spinnerbait in the shallow pads, and a jig or a texas rigged powerworm near wood structure. I only caught one in the calm water, and knew it was time to get on the windy side of the lake. I caught more on the north side where the wind had been pounding the shore all day, the bass hit within feet of the bank and hit hard. I worked back and forth alternating techniques and working my way out deeper. I picked up 1 on the worm, 2 on the jig, and 1 more on the spinnerbait. I tried two different types of swim baits, but no luck on those. The water was 62 degrees and still slightly cloudy from the algae. All the bass were typical 2.5 - 3.5lb males, and one bass had two others follow it to the side of the boat and one of those was easily 5lbs. I imagine they will begin spawning as well anytime now, if some haven't already?? Good time to work on the boat and leave them to their business....
