Again the majority of the Lake Trout (aka: Mackinaw) came from the indeterminate flat between the Bar and Minneapolis. Where the flat dropped into depths of 200 to 215 were most productive. They really pounded F-7 purple glow flatfish to the exclusion of other lures and baits. Speeds of 1.3 to 1.6 were once again most effective. As always trying to maintain close proximity to the bottom gives you the best chance for consistent success.
The kokanee came just off the Lakeside drop. Water depth of 50 to 60 feet pulling attractors and wedding rings off of downriggers at the 35 to 40 ft level worked best, but there was a lot of variation. This was a beautiful day on the lake. It was a great day to get some grandkids hooked on fishing. The big fish of the day coming on the kokanee gear was the topping on the cake.
What a great time to fish the Chelan Valley.
