I wanted to extend my hand in friendship to site member Bluefin Loui for taking the time to meet me for an awesome day of fishing. We met up at Coulee City park and hit one of my favorite Bass ponds for a morning's fishing. In 2 hours, we boated about a dozen Bass to three lbs, all of which were released, and Louie snappied pics on his camera phone. Later, we headed up Banks Lake proper to one of my favorite Crappie haunts. It took a while to locate the fish, but once we did, we caught over a dozen fish in a torrid of quick action. Lou's Berkley orange/smoke Nymph produced the best for him and a smoke/ olive chartruse micro jig worked for me. A couple of kids disturbed the spot and the action was over as quick as it began. It must be noted that with my Bank's reports, I had recieved some flak for reporting my exact spot on a previous report, so to placate the sensitivity of those who think we shouldn't keep Banks Crappie- most of our fish were released. Thanks again Lewis for a memorable trip. The Jigmiester

Thanks for the report Jigmiester, always a good read. I'm sorry to hear that another user has convinced you to restrict your posting of information. It seems, one by one, a lot of the better report posters have been privately contacted or publicly lambasted for posting perfectly good information about our states fisheries. It's unfortunate that they just don't understand how it all works. Along with learning where and how to fish a given area, this site also teaches people the rules and regs, which is GOOD for everyone. This website is not going to single-handedly destroy a fishery. No amount of detailed information posted here has that power. Maybe in another decade we'll be able to wield that much power (mwahahaha), but not now. At some point I hope you reflect upon this and reconsider your position.

A great big Thank You for putting up with me for a days outing. I appreciate your sharing your "Favorite Bass Pond", but it looked like a cow track in the middle of the road to me. (Joking). Not to worry about me fishing it out though, I don't think I could find my way back in there. After what seemed like a long drive down a windy road, then following your dust trail on an seemingly endless gravel road, then rappelling over a tall basalt cliff (not really), WOW, that was one out of the way places. The scenery was spectacular and the bass fat and sassy,.The 10 ft ultra-lite rod and 4 # line was up to the task, but boy did they give it a work out. Then you take me to Banks and I have dreams of Monster crappie, and when I catch a few "Respectable" slabs, I'm feeling good. THEN, a pick-up and the fight was on. My Monster crappie. NOT. A carp (4# or so) picked up my jig. but it was a wonderful day Jig Miester. Your efforts to put me on fish was spot on. The best Bass, crappie day this year. Thanks and hope to meet ya on the water again.

Aaron. Thanks for the input. This site so totally rocks, and also by the quality of the guys who give back to it for the prosperity and honor of our sport. I consider Loui a good friend of mine now, and our friendship wouldn't of happened without this site. I will report as I have been, (despite some critisism) and share with my fishing bretheren my places, tips and techniques. Thanks for your concern, The Jigmiester

VERY well put Aaron. I read the reports of certain users even if I don't fish the lake they have posted on, simply because they write outstanding reports with information I can usually apply elsewhere. One can easily determine who has done his/her homework. I thank Aaron, Jigmiester, Anglinarcher, and several others for the time and effort they put into these reports (especially you Long lake guys). Someday I would love to speak with blufin loui so I can at the very least get somewhat of a start to figuring out the ways of Rufus. Fish On!

Jigmiester thanks for your reports they are much appreciated. I have been wondering what is going on over there beigns we are leaving Thursday from Tacoma to come over to Banks and fish. All of your reports are detailed and really give someone who is driving 4 hours to fish something to look foward to. So keep up the work it is appreciated.

Aaron, I am "one" of the guys that pm'd him. You, sir, obviously are wrong if you think you are in the right. The "areas" that the Crappie spawn in on Banks lake are VERY susceptible to over fishing, even though the poster says he is releasing the Crappie, I will guarantee that people that read a report like that will go there and yank many female Crappies out of the system. I have seen the power of the net destroy MANY Crappie lakes.

Hal - As noted on this page.....opinions, techniques, fishing holes, and fishing knowledge is appreciated. I kinda think that is what this web site is designed for. Nobody is really right or wrong in my opinion. If YOU wish to not post these kind of reports than don't, but please do not encourage others to do the same. Do you honestly believe that not sharing the above information is going to keep certain people from retaining crappie wherever they fish in Banks lake? It won't keep me from posting knowledge and tips as I enjoy sharing to help other anglers be as successful as possible. I hope many others join me in this unselfish like approach to posting reports. I see anglers retaining fish I don't agree with all the time. As long as it is legal I guess it is just part of the program. We all may have to just start thinking a bit more outside the box when fishing our favorite bodies of water.

Some very interesting replies to this post. Let me share another aspect. While fishing with the Jigmiester on banks, I counted 13 different persons targeting crappie, who were either there when we got there or moseyed up while we were there plus a few bass fishermen. Of all those people, none of them caught "ANY" fish out of the area we were fishing. Jigmiester caught the only bass caught there, and he and I caught the only crappie. SO not all who read these posts will act on them, AND only a small percentage of those who do act on the info will catch fish, AND not all of those who catch fish will be meat fishermen. Bottom line, Small percentages of fishermen from this site will be responsible for the removal of crappie from that area. Don't get me wrong, I believe in protecting our sport of fishing, but the bottom line is we as fishermen don't have the sole ability (dinamite, and poisons excluded) to make or break a fishery. True, we do play a major role, and need to do what we can to inhance fisheries. But as mentioned by others, I will continue to share my experiences and try to get more people interested in the sport. OH, By The Way, I didn't take any Crappies from this lake either. I do occassionally practice C&R.

Here's another tidbit to ponder - years ago, we would have 40 reports in a month. Now we get that number in a day. As the number of reports goes up, the pressure on any one spot diminishes. There are over 3,000 lakes in this state. Our readership is not going to fish out any particular body of water.

Hello to all,
I just recently joined, and I havn't had much to say. However, this is an issue that is near and dear to my heart. I am a retired fishing guide, and for many years I have watched the deterioration of my beloved sport. I hope everyone out there is aware of the efforts of organizations like PETA if your are not, and you love fishing, you have an obligation to become aware (of them.) For many years now, I have made it a point to help any and all fishermen increase their success rates in all of the diverse fisheries that our state offers. We need new fishermen, the vast majority of kids in our schools DO NOT fish! PETA and other organizations like them want to eliminate all fishing, and they have made attempts to legislate fishing's elimination in New Mexico and/or Arizona already. They have been considered a "fringe group," with little capacity to impact our sport. Unfortunately, Michael Vick's activities have recently given them a platform, and they have clearly gained much credibility and we all need to pay attention to them. If you can help new people, kids and adults, to successfully enter into fishing by all means do it! The last few years I ran my charter boat the biggest problem I had was limited information, (there were simply too few fisherman to find fish off our states coastline). Jigmiester keep up the good reports, and great fishing to everybody out there. Willial13

I want to comment on this post because it seems there are definitely some strong opinions on this matter. I hope everyone who fishes remembers that it's a sport, it's for recreation, it's for fun, it's for time spent with family and kids and friends. One of the greatest things about fishing, besides catching fish, is to share and enjoy with others. People are concerned that too many fisheries will be over-fished and too many people don't practice C&R, THAT IS THEIR CHOICE. They paid the same amount of money as the rest of us for fishing licenses, i am sure they pay their taxes like the rest of us, for fishing tackle and gear. They have the same rights as you and I whether to keep fish or eat them, whether to over-fish areas, whether to not fish other areas, how much or how little to post about their experiences. Let's remember that we are trying to all enjoy the same thing here and set good examples for our kids. I personally practice C&R almost 100% of the time, but there have been times when we are camping that we will keep one to eat over a fire. FYI, I moved here about 10 years ago and found the detailed information in some of these posts very helpful in learning the fisheries around here and what to throw and where to go. Plus, I know my 13 year old looks over these and has learned quite a bit from the detailed postings.

I have to say that even though I am about 3 days short of a good conversation he is my input to al of this madness. I CATCH, KEEP, RELEASE, EAT, LOVE TO WATCH the waters in which I fish. Yes there are times that I woul love to catch a good bucket of fish and bring home for the table. Along with that, I have been on the water and have released limits of fish over and over again it would seem. I do have to agree that it is up tot eh person and what they would like to do. My personal opinion about all of this may just be another drop in the bucket, but it is sound if all think about it. Have fun and catch fish!! along with that, I feel that those that keep fish, along as they are not wasting them, are doing so because they love the taste and the feel of a good home cooked fish meal. I know that I do. But then I also love the feel of a fish on the rod and the fight that they give. I WILL, keep every triploid I catch as I feel they are the basis for the lakes being ruined in washington. I understand trophy fishing, but not at the expense of killing off the forage that lake naturally make and hurting other species that reproce naturally within the system. I have actually addressed this to the state, and as of yet, have not heard back from them. A lake is a fine balancing act of predator and prey and with up to 2000 non-fertile fish planted, all they are effectively doing is clearing the lakes of forage. Now is the time for all to act to help out this lakes and rivers. I could be wrong but I feel I am right. When it comes to this site, think about it. How many of you have gone out to a lake blind and wish you had help. Whether to catch to fry, to to release. I couldnt be happier that people put as much info as possible on here. I mainly fish the west side, but on the few occasions have been to the east. I got on this site because I was sick of not having heads up or help. The most help I have gotten before that was a very nice fellow commented on my boat at a rest area headed over stevens pass gave me a few pointers on fishing the columbia, target for the weekend. Did he have to, NO, but he did with a smile and a few laughs about fishing stories in the short time we talked. I look to guys on here like Jigmiester and 8theB8 for that type information. Both are more than willing to share info. If you dont like it, DONT READ IT!!! Jigmiester, if you would like anymore info, I will be glad to share it with you anytime that I know more. As for everyone else, you dont like what this site is designed for, LEAVE THE SITE NOW and find another. This is a site for information sharing and helping those like myself that have not fished these bodies of water and am looking for a heads up. Beside, you can have all the info in the world and not catch a fish. GOOD LUCK TO ALL ON THE WATER!!

Respects
LUKE
