I have got to say a big thanks to the WDFW for opening the Chinook Fishery on Lake Chelan...It has just been outstanding..I have boated 21 Chinook now since the opener..From the Year 2001 to 2006 I had only caught 4 Chinook out of Lake Chelan..WDFW started raising Triploid Chinook in 2004 and now the population of Chinook is coming back..I have been averaging 1 to 3 per trip out this last week..
I have been trolling whole Herring and Ace Hi-flys for the success that I have had..Finding the fish Shallow in the morning and as the sun rises hi, they drop to the bottom..Caught fish 70ft deep to 245 ft ..
Laketrout bite has been just great also..Lots of fish showing in the Lower Basin of Lake Chelan and showing off Minneapolis Beach..The Kokanee fishing has picked up out from the Best Western Motel. Finding schools of these fish in depths from 30 to 45ft deep..Best bait trolled has been a Red Apex with 2 hooks baited with Shoepeg corn and trolled 1.0 to 1.2 mph..
Thanks so much to all that fished with me this last week.
