Ok, 5th times the charm...finally broke my skunk habit. Hit the lake at 6am this morning. Air temp was 34 degrees (long johns a must), but the weather was beautiful. Was on the water and fishing by 6:15. Water temp was consistently 52.5 degrees. Lots of fish surfacing. Started casting and trolling gold, then silver lures with no luck. Switched to a red flatfish and trolled the surface with no luck. Switched out to trolling a shad-colored floating rapala around 1-1.2 mph and then started getting strikes consistently. Hooked a 9" RB by the park and released it. Decided to go bass fishing, so trolled up the lake. Gill hooked a nice 13" RB, so kept it and then caught another right where I decided to throw for bass. Decided to keep it too for a meal. Tried bass fishing using Senkos Texas rigged along the docks and tree overhangs with no luck and the breeze kept knocking me into shore, so gave up and went back to trolling my rapala. Caught two more stocker RBs for the grill and missed about 2 dozen other hits. They were hitting very softly. Lots of little pecks.
The bite started to slow down around 8:30 and I left about 9am. I was the only boat on the water until I was leaving. There were two people at the park when I got there and a lot more when I left. Saw a couple caught from shore, but did not see a whole lot of action there.
