Went to Potholes for the weekend, came back early due to the amount of people, trash, sunburn, and the rattlesnake who was not happy to see me.
Limited out on Canal easily using pink powerbait 1-2 feet off the bottom close to shore on the north end. 4lb test, 2lb leader. People we talked too said Rainbow and Captain America were the colors of choice (they had the limit for 5 people of small trout, what fun to clean and cook there). Keep your bait ball as small as possible, you'll get hits on larger bait but wont get the hook set.
I'm assuming the lake has recently been planted due to the activity and the size of the fish and their beat up fins. We got one holdover around 14", most others were 10-12. Got a couple messing around from shore with a pink wedding ring after using bait lost it's allure. Photos are on my friends camera. We'll see if I ever see them.
At last count there were 22 vehicles parked at Canal, with several at Heart and other seep lakes. Trash everywhere, what a sty. Fishing was good, could have used less people. Watch for ticks and rattlesnakes. They're out and about.
