Arrived at the 2nd spillway on Moses Lake only to find the water shut off. So I headed down to The Alder Street fill in Moses Lake to try my hand for a Walleye or two. Fished for a bit on the West Side of the Fill with no hits. Switched over to the Baskin Robbin's side(Up stream) around 4 p.m. Fishing was rather on the slow side, but David, a friend of mine hooked a decent fish right away on a chartruse tube jig, but lost it. Slowly, but steadily, people around me were netting fish. My turn finally came when a 20" male walleye picked up a 3" shad colored Berkley drop shot minnow on a 1/4 oz Blue fox jighead. Not long after that, a bigger fish hit and as I was standing up to follow it down current , I got a good look at about a 27" or 28" hen Walleye just as she hit the down stream current and spit my jig! I saw about a half dozen fish lost this way today. A steady stream of people came and went. The biggest fish I saw actually landed appeared to be about a 5 lb Hen that was foul hooked. I missed another fish around 7p.m. The walleyes are there, just not real aggressive yet. Heard of some real sows being caught over the last week. Saw one on a camera phone from the fill at just over 10 pounds caught last friday. Full moons coming up, so hopfully Walleye fishing will pick up even more then. The Jigmiester
