Well i was supposed to go riding for the first time of the year and ended up tearing some tendons in my foot, so much for that lol, i let a friend borrow my gear to go on sunday, and i ended up joining him! we headed out to one of my favorite holes that i fish in the summer, right below little falls dam, and yep it was open and water was flowin pretty damn hard, we tried deep cranks, shallow cranks, spinners, jigs, but the current was just to damn hard, we found a calm pocket so we decided to throw some power bait with pink marshmallows about three feet up from alot of weight lol, i hate using this technique because it sure makes it hard to feel a bite with a half pound of weight on but the current was just too strong, but im glad i did cuz it got me this beautiful 5.9 lb rainbow and that was one hell of a fight in the current with all that weight, i thought i was gonna lose him for sure, once he hit the net i was so happy!!!! as much as i wanted to keep him i took a pic and let him swim on to fight another day! what an awesome day was really hopin to snag some walleye but that was good enough for me! does anyone else fish for walleye below little falls? or any fish down there?

I fish it all the time when the river is open. It closed March 31st through June 1st for the walleye spawn. Be careful out there that is a steep fine. And post a pic of your big fish...I would bet it is a beautiful native.

I usually fish it 6-7 times a year now...I did more when I was in high school, in Reardan just up the road... I was down there a week ago and your right, the water is moving pretty fast. I have found that once the water slows down and is less brown, the fishing gets better. I have done OK for smallies in the summer time, with the occasional walleye. I have never limited out on anything there...other than silvers on one freak event... I have caught walleye on jigs tipped with a nightcrawler, and have even fished bobbers for walleyes (with crawlers) there...crankbates can be good too.... if the water gets really glass-like I like to through a topwater lure for smallies.... it always seems that for me the fishing is spuratic, even on a good day.

For some reason, like bazzdude indicated, the picture does not show. Can you post it again, or see if Marc or Aaron can get the picture to post.

Sounds like you had a great fish. Thumbs UP.

I fish it a hell of alot for the walleyes there. I caught three decent ones there about three weeks ago but I limited out on trout that day. I will hit it for the eyes on or soon after june 1st. I could be wrong but I believe it is open for trout still. The best advice I can give you about little falls is keep money on you if you don't have a Tribal license you can buy it from the tribal law inforcement officer.
