You know the best thing about fishing Washington State for 30+ years? Knowing exactly the spots you want to go fish on a given body of water during any and all conditions! It is soooo time efficient it allows you to actually hit key areas, hit fish or don't hit fish and make a decision....leave and try another wonderful Washington lake, OR stay and grind it out and see if you can't pick up a fish or two, it's your choice, ahhh wisdom has it's rewards.

I fished Lake Wiser this morning even though I knew it was going to be blue bird skies, I was hoping that the early morning bite would be decent. Well, myself and one other angler who's name I didn't catch, but who has excellent taste in dogs and a very nice Nitro, got blanked. We both left about noon.

Now the reason I gave this lake a 5 even though I didn't catch anything is so more people would read this report..... You see I learned long long ago, that the key to being a fisherman, is sharing information, trading tips and techniques with other anglers, reading the books and magazines, watching the tv shows experimenting with techniques, building home made lures, and possibly helping others have a better day out fishing, or just generally contributing to the body of knowledge, that's the main reason I keep coming back to this site. Now I know that contradicts the "ego padding secret keepers" of the fishing community that like to show their pics but think they have the golden secret to catching fish and don't want to tell anybody, but that's just my perspective.

I have been contributing to this site off and on since 1998, as "sniper", "sambo", and now "8theB8". The reason for the OFF times is mainly because I get sick of the trash talkers on here who feel threatened by my willingness to freely share information and feel the need to PM me about how great an angler they are and how I should keep lakes a secret and blah blah.

Well, it's happened again and this time I'm fed up, so to all you aspiring bass anglers out there, or those like minded knowledge sharers, the rest of my reports are for you......and to all of you whiney egotistical secret keepers, you may want to turn away.....

OOOOHHHHH Lake Wiser!!!! Home of more 5+lb agressive bass than I think I have ever seen on any other lake in Washington State!! No kidding, when conditions are right, you can have double digit days on this lake as far as numbers, and never see a bass under two pounds with the very real chance of getting your picture with one over 9lbs (my personal best on this particular lake is 7.6lbs, see photo)! The main areas to concentrate on are the north shores of both lakes, the south east corner of the east side of the Guide Meridian, and along the Guide Meridian on both sides. Bring your spinnerbaits early in the season before the grass gets too thick, and bring your topwater after the spawn! Use bright colors, as the lake has very dark water. Use heavier line due to the amount of vegetation you will encounter. Also, do not be afraid to venture of shore as the lake is very shallow, you can drag large plastic worms almost down the center of the lake in the summer and pick up some nice fish. Blue bird skies can make this lake tough until the grass grows up, then you can pitch and flip the heavy grass with a 1.5oz weight and your favorite creature bait and drag out some grass covered beauties! If you make the trip up to fish this lake, don't be discouraged if it's tough going, nearby Lake Terrill has excellent largemouth action as well, not to mention there are bass in Whatcom Counties Silver Lake and let's not forget Lake Samish which has both largemouth and smallmouth in good numbers. Last but not least you have Fazon which is great for numbers of bass with the occassional 5lber, and what I think might be the premier smallmouth lake in Washington, Lake Whatcom! So plan yourself a day or weekend trip up to these great north end lakes, the picture to the right shows you why you just might be glad you did!

Tight lines to my fellow anglers, and no apologies to the whiney secret keepers, something tells me you'll live:)
