Spent the morning playing with the recently stocked trout. Cold (high 30s) and raining steadily with light wind. The trout were active and striking readily but I had a hard time hooking up. I must have had 6 hits for each fish I finally landed. I think my reflexes were slow due to the cold and being out of practice. Eventually I caught a bunch of fish, all 8 to 10", including a double header on my high-lo rig which is always fun when it happens. The odd event was a floating island: a patch of grass, shrubs and mud that must have been 25 ft by 10 ft came drifting by and eventually settled against the bank. The shoreline of Chain is all marsh and a chunk of it must have gotten loose somehow and drifted down the lake.
