So, what do you do when your wife and daughter want to go shoe shopping at the outlet mall in Marysville?? Well, you throw a rod in the truck, grab a couple spinners and have them drop you off at Gissberg Ponds on their way down! Walked the bank for a couple hours tossing spinners and a couple kastmaster lures, caught and released 14 total. There were a couple float tubers and a guy in a kick boat all fishing within casting distance of shore in the NE corner of the lake... Fish were rising out behind them, as the planters are starting to work their way out over deeper water. It is fun to cast and catch these little planters on a noodle rod, but I'll tell you what, I think it has been just as much fun to watch the different types of birds feeding on trout as well! Saturday, my wife and I watched a cormorant? dive down and come up with a fish and gulp it down whole right in front of us. Tonight I watched an eagle swoop down and grab one for himself, and about a half hour before I left, a small crane landed about 15' down the bank from me, stalked along the shore, then ran and dove head first into the shallow water and came up with his own catch, it was really neat to see. Watching wildlife is such a fun part of the fishing experience! My best luck was on a small gold kastmaster, wing it out, keep your rod tip at 12o'clock, turn the reel about one revolution per second, when they bump it speed it up just a bit, and wham wiggle wiggle! It's fun, but it will definitely be nice to get some trips in there......oh yeah, my wife and daughter caught their pair of shoes too, so it worked out for everyone!
