Well don't it figure. Spend all winter waiting for my lake to open beginning of March only to have to wait longer for the ice to clear and then finally.....finally I get to hit the water. Decide today is a great day to take "D" with me and.... well let's just say I'm getting a little tired of "one fish days". Especially when the one fish is not mine. Oh well. I have to keep reminding myself that it's still early. Three outings together so far this year (three more than last year) and so far we've traded fish for fish. Problem is.. now he's up one... AGAIN! Still, I can't think of a better way to spend a morning.
The fish were hard to locate. Small schools of baitfish with one larger blip on the 'finder' hanging just off the edge of the schools. No rhyme or reason as to where they were located though. Fairly random. We hit the reed lines pretty hard and mostly just enjoyed getting into parts of the lake that we never get to see. That's where the only hookup came from. A 13.5 in. slot LM. that put up a lethargic fight. They seem to still be fairly cold. But as I said before, no better way to spend your day. Tight lines to y'all. Spring's on its way.
