Due to ice conditions at Quincy and Burke lakes, my buddy and I hit the March 1 opener at Upper Caliche around 11:30ish.All ice free and a surface temp of around 40 degrees.People were lined all up and down the north, and south ends of the lake.Everywhere you looked people were yanking out fish. There was only 2 other boats on the water besides us. so that wasnt too bad considering this lake is pretty small. We pulled small jerkbaits(Daiwa SC Shiners,Cultiva Mirashads)and caught fish non stop the whole time we were there(12-14 inches)The majority of the fish were lingering within 20 feet of the bank,so we trolled mostly the east side to get away from bank anglers.we kept the badly hooked ones and a few more to finish our limits then headed back to Yakivegas before the rain hit.
