It was a little cold, but all in all, a nice day to be out. It was partly cloudy with lengthy sun breaks and a light breeze coming from the south east(ish). Too bad the fish didn't agree.
I started out on the southern most part of the park, floating a nightcrawler with a couple of green shrimp flavored marshmallows about 18" from the bottom for a couple of hours.(1/8 oz. sinker-floroucarbon leader)
Then I tried shortening my leader to about 12" and tried that for an hour. Nothin!
Packed my gear up and was heading to the north side, and as I was walking along the boathouse I spied a small(ish) Rainbow swimming close to the concrete(about three feet) and was in about 3 or 4 feet of water.
I went to the fishing dock and cast out my 12" leader set-up towards the boathouse for about 20 minutes and then decided to switch to a slip-float. I put on 3 of those new Berkley Gulp Alive! Wax Worms(white) and another fat 'crawler(no floroucarbon leader this time). I fished depths ranging from 2 to 8 feet at different locations around the dock/boat launch for the remainder of my time out there. Nothin' but cold fingers! (I fished from noon to 6 p.m.)
There were very few fisherman out(2 other than myself), but I did get to speak briefly with the only boat angler out. He said he got 1 hit while trolling along the east bank heading south.(I forgot to ask what he was using) and then nothing after that. He said he marked fish on his depth finder hugging the bottom at about 20 feet somewhere's around the south end, and though he wasn't sure whether they were Trout or Perch..... either way, they weren't buyin' what he was sellin'.
He also mentioned that nearly all the major Trout lakes in Pierce County were also devoid of activity.
I will try again this weekend and employ a few ideas I've been tossin' around. I'm either going to figure out what they're hitting on, or the weather's gonna warm up!

Hey ya Big Game
That's a pretty good report, Good detail thanks.
It seems the bite most places is off, but it's still great to get out there and try,
I gotta say I love your closing statement,"I'm either going to figure out what they're hitting on, or the weather's gonna warm up!"
