My aunt and I went to Curl Lake on Saturday, April 27th. It was opening day at this lake because the lake was used as a steelhead smolt holding take for a month. The lake had just been planted but we didn't expect to have such good luck do to the rainy, cold weather. When we arrived, it was only a few minutes until I got a nice ten inch rainbow using a black/gold panther martin spinner. I decided to try bottom and that is when the magic started. When my aunt went to move the car, the rod tip sunk and I knew I had a huge fish. After a three or four minute fight, I landed a two and a half pond, 19 inch fat rainbow trout. We weren't done yet. My aunt soon hooked into a three pound trout only 30 minutes after mine. With our two large fish, we decided to keep some for other anglers. We were using powerbait on the bottom.
