I took my son to Blackman's today to see if we could hook up with some of those big trips that were released in the lake recently. I hooked into a nice trout in the first 15 minutes. Landed that, about a 16 inch carry over. About 15 minutes later i saw my son's line twitch and told him to get ready to set the hook. He picked up the rod and it bent over and he set the hook. That is when I realized this was no average trout.
I had to reach over and tighten his drag a little while he fought this behemoth fish. When I went to net it, it barely fit in the net. I have never caught a trout that big and it was awesome to see my son catch one. He caught 2 other fish after that. When we got home it weighed in at 7.1lbs and was 24 and 1/2 inches.
We were there less than 2 hours. Awesome day!

SWEET! When did they stock the trips? Was it the local sportsmans club?

Sorry haven't been able to check the replies in a few days. We were fishing the dock on the left in the park across from the launch. Allthough I don't think it matters.
Using Green Power Eggs and Orange Power Eggs 18 inches off the bottom. If the water is calm leave your line a little slack and watch that, not your pole. The fish will sit there for a minute with the bait in their mouth and the only way to see the bite when it is that soft is watch for the ripples in the water coming off the line. If the line is taught the fish will feel the tension and drop the bait before you can get a chance to set the hook.

I think they stocked the lake a few weeks back. Not really sure when though.
