I got up early Friday morning and quickly determined that the weather report for the day was bogus. This prompted me to hook up the boat and head to the lake for some Winter cutt fishing. SlimySlab joined me at the Mercer Island launch and we headed to the North end of the Island to start the day. We trolled a few different rigs throughout the day 25' - 60' down. We didn't mark much bait until we moved around to the East side of Luther Burbank Park but the bait was not accompanied by any fish that would take our offerings. Next we headed South of the I-90 bridge and trolled along the West side of the Island and had no takers. As a last ditch effort we tried the South side of the I-90 bridge and had a near double header of small Kokanee at the West end. We called it a day after making a couple of passes between the West shore and the center of the bridge without any more action. The weather was fantastic with a slight breeze out of the South for most of the day which seemed to go by quickly with the great company on board. Surface water temps hovered around 42 degrees and the few fish that we marked were spread out, 35' - 110' down. The lures that took the Kokanee were a white UV squid and a cut plug herring, go figure. Didn't see anyone else out fishing but there was one other rig in the parking lot when we returned.
