Looks like cold water fishing is starting to pick back up on Long.

Did a little trolling to pick up crab bait (squawfish) and have been having trouble finding them in the numbers I'm used to this time of year. Strange year to say the least.

Yesterday picked up a 20" rainbow (of course, no camera) and broke another off that looked to be of similar size. Both released to fight another day. Couple other strikes, but not sure what hit it .

Today a few squaw, one microscopic rainbow (4" trout on a 2.5" lure) and a nice German Brown. Its not hot and heavy, but its picking up.

I have been fishing in the evening in the shallows where bass would normally be(when it's warmer) in the bay right past willow bay resort, across the street from that new bar called the "Dirty Shame"(Good chilli burgers). I'm casting rappalas(doesn't matter size or color) and I have never caught so many squawfish in my life! Last ime I went I literally caught one every cast for almost 20 minutes straight and they were all over 16 inches and fought like bass. THere seems to be a window between 30 to 45 minutes before dark, give it a shot you wont be disappointed!

Hmm, Ill have to check that out! The Thumb is leaving with my boat, so I will have to take one of his down there to harvest some bait for crabbing.

Thanks!

Lake Spokane is a Long Lake. Can you give us an idea in what part of the lake you caught those trout.

Thanks
