Great day. The Northwest Walleye Internet Gathering was on for the 2nd annual Gentleman's Perch Jerk. I was late by 1/2 hour getting to the Mercer Island ramp at I-90, and by myself, so it took an hour to get into the water and by then no one was within site. So I ventured out to the north when I got my first Perch just North of the bridge at the 8 mph buoy. That was good enough for me so I stuck around the area and got 20 of which I kept the 10 largest. Filleted all before the others guys came in about 1/2 an hour after I did. Great fish TACOs and shore lunch.

I used a piece of worm on Crappie drop-shot rig. Very plain no spinners or color. All the perch were at 50 to 65 feet. All were maybe 2 feet above the bottom. The bite was good.... very good. I am sure I stumbled into an average Perch hole. Nothing exceptional and as many usable fish as dinks. I moved in a .3 to .6mph orbit pattern around and out from the buoy. Jim Reed and Chuck came by an tried the place but they were not as successful there and move on North after that. They got a few good fish later (30). The rest of the boats had a few honey holes of their own. When all was over everyone had 40 or more fish caught and in the boats. It took about an hour to fillet all those little critters. But it was totally worth it. Big Bob and TomZ had the jumbos....3 or so at 12".

I met a guy on the dock who told me that today was supposed to also be the day the Puget Sound Anglers were out for their Perch Pull. I only saw one boat from them. We had 4.
