I still haven't given up on trying to figure out the coho in Lake Washington. I started at 9:00am just North of the 520 bridge and had a strike just as I was about to put the line in the release clip. Turned out to be about an 18" rainbow that took my white mini squid. Kept at it for another 3 hours then headed to Groat point and fished for some trout for about an hour. Had no takers and marked only a few fish. I did see a a few fish surface feeding throughout the day and surface temps varied between 54 and 58 degrees. I did mark what I figured to be schools of perch in 60' of water near Hunt's Point but did not target them today, I might give them a try Sunday.

G-man. Thanks for the comments last week regarding my unlucky lake WA fishing. I was crossing over 520 today around 10 AM and saw an aluminum boat with a white outboard...was this you? May I ask what size hooks you use with the mini squid? What size flasher? I will be fishing on Sunday as well...if you see a black Thunderjet Aluminum 22 this is me...Niko-san.

Yes, that would have been me you saw out there. The flasher is a 000 size and I use a set of 1 number 2 and 1 number 4 fine wire hooks with my mini-squids. If you use the fine wire hooks make sure to use a limber rod and don't horse the larger fish.

Way to go G-Man. I appreciate your willingness to share your details. Thanks for posting. It's amazing how some of us use totally different set ups, yet do equally well.
Your posts make up for Kuttthroatkiller, Brian L, CK the Gatsby, and other regulars who seem to not post much any more.

G-Man... I think the vast majority of the Coho have moved on by now. Are you seeing any signs (schools or jumpers) stilll? My last 2 trips about a week ago were all searching, no fishing--schools all seem to have bugged out.

To be honest I haven't seen any Coho on the surface but that might just be because of where I'm fishing. What I'm not seeing are lots of nice large fish arcs on my sonar that I had been getting several weeks back. I had hoped that the reports from the locks indicating a large number of Coho were still coming through would have put me in position to catch a fresh fish or two. I'm guessing with the cooler water coming down out of Lake Sammamish any fresh fish coming into the lake is making a beeline for the slough and to the hatchery.

Mike, I hadn't even put my line in the downrigger clip when I had the strike. Without any weight I'd say my gear was no lower than 5' down.
