fished from 10 to 3 pm. sunny with some wind. we were trying to see how many squawfish we could kill on Saturday. they fight pretty good this time of year. we were trolling perch and white crankbaits in 10-20 feet of water. in five hours the tally was 39 squawfish, 2 smallmouth (14 and 17 inches) 1 largemouth (18 inches) and 10 or so perch (9 and a half to 12 inches). The fishing for the squaws was so good at one point we drifted and sight fished them along the shore. a few times it was almost a fish every cast. great time catching so many fish. In the week before we caught a skinny 18 inch smallmouth and a whopping smallmouth that went 5 lbs 9 oz, 21 and a half inches. it was an awesome fight and hopefully she successfully passes those genes on (catch and release). both bass were on the same perch crank as yesterday. love the fall. the lake is empty and clarity of the water is good.
