Now that the water temperatures are cold again, it's time to catch some bass. Thank goodness for cold weather, hunting, and steelhead season. There was only one other boat trailer at the launch today. For those who fish Liberty that is a big deal!

Water temps started out at a chilly 48 degrees first thing this morning, no action until the sun did its job and warmed those fish up a bit. Ended up at 55 degrees just after noon. While we were slow in the cold wind this morning the fishing was still quite fast. Spinnerbaits and jerkbaits on the right docks and cabbage patches kept us quite busy today. Lots of fish, and no dinks.

One of the best bass days of the year a Liberty for me actually. And to think that not long ago we couldn't even fish here this time of the year. Thank you WDFW!

Any specific colors on the lures? How many did you end up catching? Looks like a great day on the water, how long do you think the fishing will be good at Liberty? I know it only is open through Oct.

Natural, enough, through October

Seriously, the biggest issues are the dying cabbage (no oxygen) and people putting away their docks. The cabbage on the North end seemed to hold much better populations of bass than in other areas. So much algae covered brown cabbage in that water that it's hard to find a good pod of fish. Most are still quite shallow, less than 10 feet for now. Open water docks that are exposed to the weather were our best producers for the size of fish in the picture. Stay away from the weedy docks.
