On the water around 7AM. Fished the northwest section by "Diving Rock" towards Staircase.
Began locating fish around the submerged stumps in about 20ft. Tried some jigs and even worms with not much luck.
Went to my crank collection and grabbed a rainbow trout x-rap,casted it out and let it drop for several seconds. Reeled slow with some twitches and pauses. Finally hooked up with a lmb(dinker bass) and lost him at boat side.
Off the water by 3PM, another great outing but no fish in the net.
Weather was overcast with occasional showers. Outside temps were cold at around 45 degrees high and lows at or below freezing. Snow in the foothills. I'll be fishing this lake all year,so I should be able to at least share some scenic pics.

I agree Kevin, Cushman must be one of the most scenic bass lakes in Washington. I have never heard of the smallmouth in Cushman but have had some success on nice sized largemouth. Think the best time to bass fish that lake is about the first week in June.

I'm not sure what the overall picture is with the smallies,...as in population. I started running into them about 2 years ago.I assumed they were always there but I usually just fish trout here. Then talking to other anglers out here,I was surprised..they knew of lmb's but not smallies. I didn't know about the lmb's until recently.
