I fished for 3 hours with chartreuse power eggs, rainbow PB, Worms and Marshmallows starting at 9:30. I caught 3 trout about 11 to 13 in. They had some little red marks on their bellies so they went back. Don't normally keep trout this time of year anyway. Maybe I should have pulled them out from system?
A few days ago a young man caught a SMB (Not LMB) off the dock with a generic white spinner. He was saying that a group of 6 fish came out from under the dock and attacked his $1.00 special from WalMart. The largest was about 3 lbs and his was 2. He took it home and said it was very tasty.
As I left the lake the wind started to come up and a few boats came in. They caught a few on Pop Gear and worm on a wedding ring. One guy got several small Bass and some yellow perch using jerks and plastic. Night fishing has been ok with the full moon lot's of jumpers.Very small flies are flittin around...it's kind of a gnat.
Lake Ballinger will be open year around and hopefully the trout will freshen up and get rid of their muddy taste as the temps go down.
