Had 3 nice afternoons/evenings (Sun, Mon, Tues) fishing Potholes this week. Water level was very low, much lower than my last trip in June, and the lake is having a very strong algae bloom. The area around Mar-Don, as well as other shallows I fished looked like Pea/Spinach soup . Water Temps were 74-75 degrees, and the air temp was 85-88 degrees. The low water level exposed lots of rock structure all around the shallows on the east side, and around Goose Island.

C& R about 18 fish for the 3 days. All Smallmouth--mostly small fish 9-12", with 2 a little larger about 14-15". No Largemouths at all. Pulled fish out of the shallows and rocks along the dam wall. Bright patterned Rapalas, and Crankbaits seemed to work best for me.

Plenty of guys catching crappies at the Mardon docks!!

No big fish this trip, but the weather was beautiful, and I had a great time!

Joe
