Went to Sammamish this morning. Got there just after the launch open. A little late cause of a trailer problem.
Anyway, headed strait towards the north end of the lake to trying to get some smallies. After about an hour and a half with nothing but tiny accidental perch, i got the idea to try something new. I asked my dad if he could take us shallower, we were fishing in 25-30ft of water. So he takes us over to the pylons by the pads, and after about five minutes i had a hard hit. After a fun battle, I brought in a 3+lb largemouth. My new personal best! Wasn't expecting that. First non dink LMB from
Sammamish for me.
After another half hour there, we headed back out to our smallie spot in the 25-30ft range. I ended up catching two smallies, one a little over a pound, and one a little under a pound. My dad also caught a decent smallie. Probably two pounds.
After that, we switched to perch fishing, for some reason it sucked for us today. We only got 6 over 8inches, and only caught like 30 overall. I guess next time we should just bring night crawlers for the perch.
Loved the weather today. At the start it was cool and super foggy, but ended up getting clear and hot.
All fish were released, except the perch.
