Wife , Grandson and I launched from Willow Bay around 10AM. We fished around the islands. Water temp was 67 degrees and the sky was over cast. We were using drop shot and worms. Fishing in 10' of water Only used a quarter worm or less and caught 2 to 4 fish per quarter worm. Fish ranged from 6" to 12" long. What a great time we had. We caught over 100 perch and were sorry we ran out of worms because the bite was one right after another. We had only planned to fish until noon but stayed until 2:30. Life was grand today.

Nice Job, I have never fished for perch but have been thinking about going to long lake. Can you please give some tips as to what size/kind of hook you were using and weight size.

Thanks in advance

I like to use a small Aberdeen hook (4 or 6). I use a 3/8 oz weight so that it stays on the bottom with the kids using the poles. Rig the hook to be just above the top of the weeds on the bottom (12-18"). Overcast weather and fishing the edge of weed beds in about 10' of water is a perch catching combination. If you switch to a 1/8 oz jig and tip it with a worm, you'll catch some crappies. Excellent way to spend the day with the kids and keep them entertained.
