WOW!!! That about sums it up! My wife and I decided to fish overnight on Friday. Needless to say that turned out to be a waste of time. Only three small catfish. Tons of fish on the finder, but very few bites. So we called it a night and starting fishing this morning around 5a.m. For the first hour it was kind of slow.. A couple crappie, perch, one small largemouth, and my wife caught a nice 12" rainbow on a crappie jig. Go figure... But then we hit the honey hole and it was on! Between 6a.m. and 10a.m. we boated nearly 80 crappie!! We were casting and vertical jigging in about 11-12ft of water. The water temp was in the mid to high 70's. And it was HOT out there once that sun came up! Not to mention a Tiger that inhaled my jig right at the boat! WOW! These fish are extremely quick and savvy. Before I had a chance to set the hook he had me broke off. Oh well, it was cool non the less. So all in all we ended up with 63 crappie retained. Not bad for 4 hours! Oh and I almost forgot... I caught another Muskie and my wife had a follow. I am truly addicted now! I haven't cracked the Muskie code at Newman but I have definitely begun the process... Three Tigers in two weeks ain't too shabby! But I'm sure just as I get comfortable, it will all change. That why it's called fishing and not catching!!
