Went to Phantom again today. Again, I was the only one fishing here. Caught a medium sized perch but again, no bass. Then someone who was padding around came and ask me if he can join me as well. So we fished together and he caught a 5inch bass with a spinner.

It was a small bass but at least I know there are bass in this lake! I guess they are just small thou.

I can tell you that some big largemouth bass live in that lake. You are targeting them at the wrong time of year. Spring (pre and post spawn) is the ticket to those monsters. I'm a fly fisherman so my tactics are a bit different from the gear slingers. Low and s l o o w is the method. This time of year your only shot is first light or last light.

Have you tried Larson Lake right next door? Check out the reports for it. Tnj8222 caught both LMB and crappie there. Pretty decent-sized bass.
