WOW!! How did I not know about this site??? Too cool!! I look forward to sharing tips and learning more about the fishing in other parts of the State!! Awesome.....by the way, I saw a t-shirt and got the site info, so good job advertising, now I need to get one and advertise too!!
I had the day off today, so I decided I would fish a couple of my favorite Skagit County lakes. Boy was the wind ever blowing! That kept me off of Big and Clear Lake, so I decided McMurray would be the better bet because it sits down in a bowl and has some good wind protection!
I worked all of the east shore, nothing. Fished the lily pad cove, nothing. I saw huge swarms of bait fish in places so I tried small crankbaits, Carolina-rigged flukes, golden shiner colored spinnerbait, nothing!!
I finally just started fishing a Texas-rigged motor oil colored Berkley Power Worm that I pinched off to make it about half worm half tail, using a 1oz (due to the wind) Tungsten sinker (unpegged) and finally...by the lone dock on the east shore, a taker! It was a 3 & 1/2lb largemouth, very good fight, very clean looking fish! I didn't get a pic, because I was fighting the wind so bad, by the time I landed the fish I had blown in towards the shore, so I just weighed him and dropped him back in..... I'll do better next time;)
Should be a great weekend to fish, I have to work Sunday, but I am very excited about being able to read and submit reports so regardless of the catch, this will be a fun weekend!!
Good fishing.
