Arrived at the Nine Mile launch around 7 with my dad who is up from AZ for my wedding yesterday. My new bride insisted I take my dad fishing because it's been nearly two years since I've seen him. The wind was already blowing when we arrived and only got worse throughout the morning. We both caught a nice smallmouth. My dad's was on a spinnerbait and mine was on a green lead head with 3" chartreuse curly tail. And I caught one pike-minnow on it as well. I heard there are some big pike-minnow's in Long Lake? And they are the largest member of the minnow family and can reach a weight of over 30lbs? That's crazy! And I believe they are a nuisance fish? I had no idea what it was the first time I caught one. I talked to Fish & Wildlife to find out. I heard parts of the Columbia actually pays you to catch them? We only stayed till a little past 11am due to the wind and by that time all of the pleasure boaters started to come out. All in all it was great to have my dad with me. And we are going to try Newman tomorrow.

I know parts of the Snake river pay 5 bucks for each one; at least they did a while ago. They make great bait for Mac's up on Priest- I used to catch them on the Little Spokane and give them to my boss to fillet and use for his rigs.

tmac03hog - I think that you are confusing Northern Pike and Pike Minnow. Pike Minnow are crap fish that they have a bounty in some places and Long lake has a ton of them. They can get up to 5lbs or so. Northern Pike are not as abundant in Long but the ones that are there are huge. They can get up to 50lbs and have teeth! The current WA record was caught there a few years ago and weighed 34lbs. I have seen some big ones running around out there in the spring. Hope that helps.
