Headed out to Long Lake for my first time this weekend. This was also my friends first time taking the canoe out so we really didn’t know where to fish. Started at the DNR boat launch and headed down river fishing for smallmouth’s with crankbaits and plastics. Caught a few decent smallies like the one in the picture within the first hour or so. We headed into some shallow spots looking for large mouth and I hooked this nice one. Didn’t have a scale to weigh it but I’m guessing it was somewhere around 6lbs. What do you think? Put up one heck of a fish and is my personal best. Caught more of these nice smallies throughout the day. Overall, we had a great time at the lake. Fishing started to get tough when all the boaters decided to head out, which really pushed around the canoe. Can’t wait to head out again but next time I will remember to use sunscreen.
