I had heard that the crappie were moving through in schools and that you could get some nice ones if you were on the water early. Well, not so much today; the resort tells me that the big wind they had last Tuesday seems to have broken up the schools for now. Two of us did hit a few small ones, and one 10".

We decided to check out the perch, and sure enough, at about 8+ feet, near the weeds, we found them, and lots of them. Most run from 7 to 11 inches. We also caught several tench, the fed the Bald Eagle. Funny, the osprey won't touch them; I wonder if they know something (LOL). The perch turned off on us at 10:30 am for some reason and we could not find active schools.

We did check out the pads for Bass, but the water is just too shallow in the pads now (~6") and way too warm. We did miss a good bass on a buzz bait, and we saw a couple of good bass caught very early on a surface jerk style bait, but for the most part, the bass have gone deep. Perhaps fishing at night with noisy top waters or even big bladed spinner baits might work well.
