Came down to give this lake a try as I haven't fished it in years. Initially intended to fish for channel cats but when I settled in on the far side of the lake I started to hear the lop sound of crappies and changed plans. Fishing ultra light (2 lb test) and using a stealth Thrill bobber I drifted along the pads spot casting to surface feeders. caught several but only kept one as it was deeply hooked. As the sun set I made one last cast to a pocket between the pads that had a willow growing over it. Had seen something big exploding the water there a couple times over the last hour or two. Made my cast and then turned to get the motor ready to head back to the launch. Turned around and you guessed it.... the bobber was gone. Tightened my line and set the hook. Out of the water exploded a big bass. She shook her head then dove back down. I applied all the tension I could but quickly lost the battle as she snapped the line. Before leaving I eased over with the electric motor and picked up my bobber that popped to the surface after the line broke.

Great fun and will be back for more crappie on light line but will also pack my bass rod so I can go say hi to the one that got away. Fun lake to fish if you haven't been there. Quiet and peaceful...lots of panfish and know there are good cats here as well.

Great report! I read about a 21 lb. channel cat that was caught there. My son had his small hooked straighten out by some big unknown a couple of years ago.
