Got brave and took the boat out to Newman after work (7:00) even though the wind was 30-50mph and the Valley was burnin up. Figured I might get stuck on that fire and I had better get my fishing in while I couuld. A guy from work and I started fishing the coves that were protected from the wind, no luck. At one dock, some people were trying to flip their sailboat back over. The wind had blown it over the dock and flipped it upside down! Tried helping them but the 20' mast was stuck in the mud and weeds. Got tired of not catching fish so we braved the wind and hit the north end. Just like I thought the fish were hammering the windy banks 4 bass in 5 minutes on cranks. Got tired of running my electric on high and headed to a little less windy spot against the pads. Got a bass just under 5lbs on the first cast at the spot. We fished down the pads and got 4 more bass on topwaters and spinners. We were only on the water for about 2 hours.
