I just found this site, while looking for a topo of Stevens County. Saw the nostalgic note of Roderic Gale.
More nostalgia. The lake was named after my great grandfather, George Waitt, who was the first white settler in the valley. This was in 1867. We still have (1/2) the original ranch in our family - on the Farm to Market Road.
I have fished Waitts Lake since I was a kid, in 1936.
