Got a late start today and made it on the water about ten o'clock.
It was warm and overcast. Water was clear, temp unknown.
Two of the casting decks were occupied. Talked to the fellows in one they had not caught any fish, said the next ones down had just got a trout. Put my pontoon in and fished counter-clockwise around the shoreline hitting the weed lines and the down trees and such. The whole lake does not seem to be very deep and there are weeds almost to the surface covering much of the water. I was using a red Trout Magnet and caught a couple of bluegill and a new specie for my lifelist an Orange Spotted Sunfish. I tried to use a Rattle Trap and a Kastmaster, but with no fruit at all. I must confess I did not know how to fish this lake and was a little frustrated. I saw some fellow with a small aluminum boat and a trolling motor and I thought he was trolling so I tried it. I kept getting hung up and since I really do not know how to troll anyway I gave that up. I went back in to the parking lot and the aluminum boat guy was putting his boat in his truck. Turns out he was not trolling...just seeing if his new boat/motor would work OK. He said that the best thing is to fish the lee side of the lake where all the crap gets blown and use a small hook and small bait. I did not try it because I was already out and done, but I will next time.
Went to Fargher Lake Pond after that, on the way home and had a few nibbles that could have been salamanders and I did hook into one fish, but when I got it to the weed lined shore I lost it trying to get it through the weeds. Never saw it, could have been a small bass since that is all I have ever caught here. Met a fellow there that said all he has ever caught there was trout...go figure!

one fish at a time...

I can not edit this report so I will just add an addendum:
I misidentified the fish in the pic as an Orange Spotted Sunfish when it is actually a Pumpkinseed...still a new one for my life list.
